wenige Menschen Leid, das sie nicht ruhen lassen wird." Der Ausgang des Krieges in Jugoslawien bedeutet noch keinen Frieden, denn noch immer herrscht große Not, welche durch das Embargo gegen Serbien dramatisch gesteigert wird. Nicht nur im Kosovo, auch in Serbien fehlt es an den wichtigsten Dingen des täglichen Lebens. Durch das Bombardement ist das Land verwüstet und keine Besserung in Sicht. Gehen uns die Opfer in Serbien nichts an im Gegensatz zu den Leidenden im Kosovo? Nein, die Opfer auf allen Seiten, seien es die von der NATO bombardierten Menschen oder der Flüchtenden in und aus dem Kosovo, gehören in die westliche Verantwortung, denn die europäischen Staaten sind Mitverursacher dieser großen menschlichen Katastrophe und der verheerenden Umweltschäden. Um die zerstörerische Logik des ersten Weltkrieges zu durchbrechen, hat die britische Anti-Kriegsaktivistin Kate Courtney gegen alle Widerstände in ihrem Land hungernde deutsche Menschen unterstützt. Deutsche, darauf beharrte sie vehement, wurden zu Feinden ihrer Regierung gemacht - sie waren aber deshalb doch nicht ihre Feinde. Auch Serben, Roma, Kosovo-Albaner und andere Volksgruppen sind vor allem Menschen, nicht bloß "Böse" oder "Gute", "Freunde" oder "Feinde". Am 25. Juli wird eine Tübinger Anti-Kriegs-Studentengruppe mit der Organisation "Frieden-Jetzt-Chemnitz" für eine Woche in die zerstörte Region Belgrad und Pancevo fahren. Die Chemnitzer Friedensgruppe hat bereits mehrmals, auch während des Krieges, humanitäre Hilfslieferungen organisiert, Kontakte zu Basisgruppen geknüpft und setzt diese Strukturen der Zusammenarbeit in der Gegenwart fort. Als Institution vor Ort agiert das Jugoslawische Rote Kreuz als Ansprechpartner, der die Spenden an Hilfsbedürftige verteilt. An dieses Netzwerk von schon bestehender Hilfe wollen wir uns mit unserer Fahrt anschließen. Unter anderem ist ein Projekt für den Bau einer Schule in der Entwicklungsphase. We are an ad hoc group of student here in Tübingen, Germany who did not support our respective governments bombing of Yugoslavia. We are currently trying to gather funds and materials to take to Yugoslavia at on the 25th of July. It is important to remember that our bombs were responsible and killing of great numbers of civilians; as well as the destruction of infrastructure i.e. schools, residential houses, and hospitals. In Yugoslavia there is a great need for medical supplies. So we have written letters to all the hospitals in our region and are waiting for responses. There is also lack baby milk consecrate and dried milk. We would like to transport to as much of to the above mentioned as possible. A lack of general school supplies and computers is not just the effects of the bombing that are being felt by the Yugoslavian population but the 8 years of US sanctions. Our Political Motivations: Our engagement with Yugoslavia stems out the of the an ethical stance which hold that it is our duty to concern ourselves first with the wrongs of your our government before we hypocritically point the finger at the Yugoslavia government. In short it is easy to justify our aggression by looking at the 'Human Rights' in Kosovo but in doing that we ignore the our own role in supporting dictator regimes in Turkey, El Salvador, Chile, Guatemala, Haiti, Indonesia/East Timor and Israel/Palestine. The war with Yugoslavia is not in the interest of the American people nor its position of position as 'world policeman' bent of implementation of the New World Order. For the above mentioned reasons we as Americans have not shown ourselves capable of coming to terms with our governments own foreign policies. America and her NATO allies have come to resemble more an Empire driving at newer kind of imperialist world domination, which is a world political development that is not only a catastrophe for the poorer nation of the Asia, the America's and Africa who will be literally crushed by it; it is a development which will lead further already existing social and political decay of American and Europe. By making contact with Kurds, Serbians, Iraqis Sierra Leoneians, and El Salvadorians victims of our respective governments we are attempting to further an international consciousness devoted to working against just such a 'New World Order.' as well as attempting to take responsibility for our role as American and German citizens in time of war.
